In thirteen days I will turn 70 and it will be time to step up my training. I'm hoping to paddle 7000 kms in my 70th year so I can't get sick as I have to average 20kms a day for 365 days. That means I will have to paddle nearly two and half hours every day for a year or paddle 40 kilometres on some days so I
can have a day off.
I paddled 6000kms on my 60th year and 6500kms on my 65th year.
I can't wait for my 80th birthday when I will have to paddle 8000kms.

I met Robbie with a number of students from the Helena College on Thursday morning at the junction of the Helena and Swan Rivers. I have known Robbie since around 1985 when I used to take Helena students on canoeing trips down the Blackwood River.
It's great to see schools still offering Canoeing Programs.
The Helena River is a tributary of the Swan River. The river rises in country east of Mount Dale and flows north-west to Mundaring Weir, where it is dammed. It then flows west until it reaches the Darling Scarp.
It passes through the western edge of the Darling Scarp between Gooseberry Hill, and Greenmount Hill before joining the Swan River at the southern edge of the historic town, of Guildford. Because of the dam little water reaches the Swan.

In Augusta
Over the last weekend Jenny and I went on a 4 day visit to stay with Alaine and Tom in Augusta. Instead of a river view we had an ocean view.
Exploring Dead Water.
A backwater near the river entrance.
Dolphins were around on two of the days I paddled.
Gulls on Dead Water sand beach.
Pelicans, Swans, Cormorants and Spoonbills in the inlet.
A Stingray passes beside me.
I managed to get Alaine out for a paddle on one day.
An Egret stands close by.
The Eagle soars above us.
At the Cape Leeuwin water wheel.
On the way home and Jenny's birthday.
Swamphens opposite Fishmarket Reserve, Guildford.
A Pelican passes a house that overlooks the river which had a landslide causing for concern.
Like the Gen 3 V10, the V9 has been optimized for downwind surfing, with increased rocker, and stability. Flatwater speed is a step up from the V8 Pro due to the slightly narrower beam. This is the boat many paddlers have been waiting their whole lives for – the one that launches you onto the swells, glides
efficiently across the water, and keeps you in the “zone”.
