Last Friday I talked about the jetties at Point Reserve and no sooner had I posted that story I received a Bassendean Flyer in my letterbox and one of the items in the flyer was the replacing of the Point Reserve jetties. So it appears that the Bassendean Shire with the help of grants will replace the jetties, which is good news. No word on the Sandy Beach jetty though.

Freya is circumnavigating North America in stages. She has already paddled around South America and several other countries including Australia.

SunSmart Marathon #4 - Canning River Race
Deep Water Point Reserve, 9th February

The fourth race of the SunSmart Marathon Series was held last weekend on the Canning River, and presented many challenges such as strong winds and shallow waters.

1st place male K2 - John Hilton & Darryl Long - 1:08:51.3
1st place mixed K2 - David Worthy & Maya Elston - 1:08:43.9
1st place male guppy K1 - Rhys MacRae - 25:24.6
1st place female guppy K1 - Scarlett Florisson - 27:07.1

The next race is the SunSmart Marathon #5 - Pinjarra to Ravenswood race on the 22nd March.

Thursday was the funeral of the lady who used to feed the ducks. They don't realise what has happened to her and keep returning to her door but without food they are gathering feed from our lawns along the street.

The ducks are getting closer to our lawn.

I think they will soon realise that food is not laid on any more.

Watch out for the logs underwater on a higher tide upstream of Sandy Beach on the right hand side.

The log is exposed on a low tide but on a higher tide it's covered. Beware not to cut the corner after you have paddled passed the green marker spit post.

Further along there is another tree branch that likes breaking rudders.
