Whatever you do don’t miss this week’s
WA Marathon Championships
at Ascot Kayak Club
It’s going to be a great show. With over 130 paddlers and the spectacle of paddlers portaging and close racing around a 3.8km circuit it’s going to be a beauty.
In the 65-70 class we have 16 paddlers taking part which is most likely a record for a Championship so racing in my division is going to be one hell of a fight. The 55+ division has 21 paddlers taking part so who said racing was
just for the young.
There are 14 in the Sunday novice race at the moment but we are hoping more paddlers will enter. Are you the one sitting on the sidelines? Novices don't portage so give it a go.
Tom Rogan has put an enormous amount of effort in to build special ramps that will be used at the portage points next to the AKC club rooms.
Registrations close tonight so get your entry in.
If you want to enter go here:

Young gun Josh Kippin portaging at a previous State Championship.
The more mature paddlers portaging a few years ago.
They are now all older but yet to need a walking stick!
Tom has been working really hard on the two ramps and has taken time off work to get them spot on.
Doug, Michael, Nathan, Steve, Ron, me and others have given him a little help.
Carpet is being laid by Tom, Steve and Ron. Doug is on timber delivery.
More work to be done tomorrow.
Even after 3 -4 days of Sprint Racing the juniors are back on the river training hard.
If you can guess what the shape in the picture is - the first five people to guess will win a pair of Canoeing Down Under Tie Downs
The WA Marathon Championships are taking place at Ascot Kayak Club this weekend.
There is going to be some exciting racing with over 130 paddlers taking place.

When the ladies crossed the finish line before me it was time to hide!

When I got to the finish line at the same time I felt better!
When I beat them in the 1000 metre race I was much happier.
But at least I won 3 silver medals in the over 65 MENS
