I’m sorry the newsletter was a little late this week but with the Sprint Nationals being over the last 5 days with helping out and paddling I didn’t have too much time to finish it.
The racing hasn’t stopped for several weeks. On the long weekend we had the City Lights Race which I competed the 28km race with Simon O’Sullivan and did pretty well. It was good to see a lot of IOP paddlers paddling on the river instead of the ocean.
The conditions were not perfect, a little bumpy along the freeway but conditions were still good. And the weather was good and the food was good and the atmosphere was good. And the organisers and volunteers did a grand job.
Having a long race (City Lights) a few days before the National Sprints and the Sprints one week before the WA Marathon Championships, wasn’t the best combination of races to get ready and taper for the WA Marathon Titles this weekend but if you want to
paddle every event something has to give.
Don't forget to enter the WA Marathon Championships. There is a novice event on Sunday morning for those paddlers who don't usually race. It is 7.8kms, 2 laps no portages.
