We wanted to try Beck's fundraising Christmas cake and Jenny felt so bad slicing the knife through Santa I had to do it.

We are going to have a hard time slicing through the Reindeer!

It was so delicious I will have to buy a replacement before Christmas.

Beck's son Hunter has been training incredibly hard again this year with his sights set firmly on competing at the Australian Junior Canoe Slalom Championships in Eildon, Victoria in January 2019. It is not a cheap excercise to get him there so this year Beck is baking Christmas Cakes to help offset some of his travel costs. These hand crafted Reindeer or Santa Christmas Cakes (approx 500gm) are selling for $17.00 and come beautifully packaged in clear acetate boxes. They make excellent gifts for family, friends, teachers or that tricky secret Santa gift! If you would like to purchase one (two or even more) to help Hunter achieve his dreams please let Beck know.

Clint Robinson Coaching Course

Olympian & coach Clint Robinson is coming over to Perth and whilst here he will be running a coaching course.

Clint will be conducting a 2 hour coaching course on the 21st November, Wednesday afternoon/evening. Group session - Only $25.00. This session will be conducted at Garvey Park. 4.30pm - 6.30pm.

It will not only be an opportunity to meet a great Olympian but it would be of great value to paddlers wanting to develop a better flatwater technique.

Murray Marathon

It's less than a week until The Murray Marathon - this year celebrating it's 50th year!

This ABC TV news report below is from 1970 when the annual race featured 101 canoeists.

Next week's event is expected to include 550 paddlers in 180 different craft, such as canoes, kayaks, outriggers and stand up paddle boards, supported by 800 ground crew.

But one thing remains the same - the course - paddlers will travel 404 kilometres across five days, starting at Yarrawonga and finishing at Swan Hill.

The 404km, 5 day Murray River Race

In 1991 I paddled 2500kms (virtually the entire river) of the Murray River in 21 days starting at Tom Grogin a few kilometres downstream of the source.

The river trip started with some grade 3-4 rapids.

Most of the river though was flatwater. I averaged nearly 120kms a day paddling well into the night and having little rest.

The Doctor Race is on 24th November 2018

The Doctor in Perth, WA is Australia’s most exciting ocean paddling event from Rottnest Island to Sorrento Beach covering 27kms (or vice versa depending on wind conditions).
