Unfortunately, nothing has changed in the past two weeks
in regards to finding a suitable location for the shop, so
at this stage it seems pretty clear, that I will have to work
from home with a reduced amount of boats and paddles. Epic
and Grafton Paddle Sport kayaks and skis will be the major
brands that I will continue to stock with a few other brands
that I will order in for customers on request. I will still
be selling selling Epic and Werner paddles and doing Epic
ski trials for those people who want to try before they buy.
Although we intended to close on the 30th April, we will
continue to be open until the 12th May but it would be best
to call us before you come to make sure we are here and not
moving things out. 9378 1333

We have 4 more Saturday morning fitness sessions before we
finish our group training. For the next few weeks all the
money raised at our Saturday morning training sessions will
go to Perth paddler Sandy Robson who is paddling from Germany
to Australia. After months, years on the high seas Sandy is
coming to her final stage and the money collected will help
off-set some of her costs.
I hope that we can raise at least $1000.00. After such a remakable
journey she deserves to have our support on her last part
of her huge expedition.
Why not come down and help us achieve it the $1000.00 target.

Stories
Early morning paddling, when the sun
is just coming up and making an impact on the day, is the
perfect time at the moment. Most mornings the water is glassy
and there is now a slight chill in the air which is invigorating
but it's the early morning sun lighting up the vegetation
that is so stunning.
A large tree with an
Osprey and two galahs perching on top. Gone are the days when
the two adults and the two youngsters were perching on the
trees on the island. Nowadays there are usually only two birds,
the other two must be hunting further a field. I have seen
one bird back in the nest so I don't know if it is a female
laying more eggs.
This Osprey we spotted
eating a fish just downstream of Point Reserve, Bassendean.
Remember when you are paddling keep a look out for life around
you. You will be surprised what is going on along the shores.
It's amazing to see the
Purple Swamp Hen climb trees. You imagine them being on the
ground scratching around but if you stop and watch you might
see them climb.
Climbs the tree for a
good view
Most Perth people don't
know the beauty we have in the city. This picture could have
beeen taken in the wilds but this is Bassendean only 8 kms
from the city centre. You can see this type of picture only
3-4kms from the city centre. You just have to get on the water
and look around you.

Anzac Day
Anzac Day is this Monday
and I usually like getting the Cockle 7 out of the shed and
go for a paddle. The Cockle 7 was made in 1944 for secret
operations in World War 2. My Cockle 7 which I believe is
only one of two still being able to be paddled in the world
apparently saw action in Burma.
The Cockle 7 is made
of aluminium and breaks down into 3 pieces.
Jan and I taking off
from South Perth on a Anzac Day a few years ago. We passed
under Kings Park just after dawn and paddled to Fremantle.
John Tomszac who was
in the forces paddled part way with me to Fremantle.

Joe Dowse might still
paddle with a conventional paddle but try to keep up with
him, he's pretty quick.
Under 16 Tom Green goes

I used to beat Matt in
my V7 4 weeks ago but he now leaves me behind.
Annie Danko might not
be in the top positions but she is full of go. This morning
she races, in the afternoon she abseils and in the evening
she goes to a Chris Issac concert. That's what you call a
full day of action.
