Well the Christmas break is over and it's time to get back to some serious training. There are races schedule for nearly every weekend coming up and the Sprint Championships and the Marathon Championships aren't that far away.

Take advantage of these lighter summer evenings because it won't be long before they will disappear.

Must fly as I have an interview with 6PR at 12.30pm today.

Who's Out There

Michael Glorie.

Michael has only been paddling a couple of months, he works away but that hasn't stopped him from coming from no-where to being in the second division and getting a personal best every time he goes out. 

He was a rower and he is pretty young and what I have seen he is pretty determined, so he has a good future in paddling.

Veronica and Anita are originally from Victoria and Veronica has done 11 Murray Marathons and Anita has done 8. They have done a mix of relays and 1/2 marathons.

WW Training Around the Buoys

Before we can start the training I put out 24 buoys along the edge of the river. I pile about 8-9 buoys with weights into my Epic GPX kayak and position them in a zigzagging pattern to make the course more difficult so the paddler has to use more skill to get around them

If you want to improve your skills you should give it a go. 
Spare kayaks can be arranged if you don't have one.

We had a group of 20 paddlers on the water this morning.

The Wild Water Kayak like Mikes is faster than the Wavehopper that Jane, Kate and Jeannette are paddling. 
The Wavehopper is more maneuverable and stable though.

In the WW Kayaks it was Michael, Me and Phil Edwards.

In the Wavehoppers it was Chris Buxton, Peter Liddle & Chris Hollier.

In the Ladies Wavehopper it was Marie Andersson, Jane Liddle & Kate Martin.

Chris Buxton did an amazing time in the Wavehopper.

Livelighter Masters and Novice Training Program 

It was all go at Ascot on Wednesday evening with about 37 participants taking part in the Masters Sprint Training.

Sprint Regatta #4 is on this Saturday morning 14th January 2023 starting at 8.00am.
