This Cormorant took on more than it could chew.

After a big tussle and heaps of splashing, although the fish looked as if it was about to lose and received a good gash on its side, it did get away.

It makes you wonder how the Cormorant was going to swallow such a big fish.

The Purple Swamp Hen chick is growing pretty fast.
It was totally black two weeks ago, now its showing some colour.

Meets Tuesday Evening at Ascot Kayak Club.

7 women and 1 man. The competition is very friendly but fierce.

It's a great session to get into racing.

They might not be the fastest paddlers in our state but they are pretty keen to beat each other.

Another 5 women.
They are pretty competitive.

Who says its a male sport.

Australia Day Dolphins

It is not unusual to see dolphins close to the coast but its not so usual to see them 40kms from the ocean. 10 - 15 years ago dolphins were regular visitors to the Bassendean area but since then it is becoming pretty rare to see them so far up-river.

It was so cool to see the dolphins.
I missed them when they were passing Ascot about 6 weeks ago.

Being Australia Day there were a lot of people and children at Sandy Beach when they passed. It was great to hear people shouting out to others that they spotted a dolphin.
